QUESTION 14- How can performance management systems be improved?


Performance Management systems can be improved by:

Ø  Better Understanding of job expectations
Ø  Defines clear goal and objectives to be accomplished, goals must be challenging
Ø  Evaluating performance accurately
Ø  Provide meaningful coaching and feedback frequently
Ø  Appraisal and feedback sessions on a regular and respected time table
Ø  Reward for good performance


Job Descriptions:
The employees should have a clear description and definitions of his duties and performance expectations. Skills required deadlines and goals to meet.

Performance Standard
We need to establish performance standards to show what constitutes below-average, average, and above-average performance. Clear guidelines and measures should be established. To measure the expectations outline in the job description require to do objective and subjective method of assessment.

Evaluator Training

Training need to be given to superior/manager on how to communicate and how to conduct performance appraisal before they conduct their first reviews. Training the managers first will enable a good evaluation of low performance and high performance and thus will reduce the gap.

Compensation and Rewards

Reward to employees keep them motivated, loyal and if the employees are motivated there will be effectiveness and improvement
